Spider egg hatching

Do you have baking soda and vinegar at home? Then get ready for a spooky, messy play activity.

Materials needed:
plastic spiders (you can also make little pipe cleaner spiders if you don't have plastic spiders at home)
2 cups of baking soda
3/4 cup of water
vinegar
drops of food coloring of your choice (we used yellow as lots of spider eggs are yellow in color)
silicone mold/ice cube tray

1. Add 2 cups of baking soda to a bowl, and slowly add 3/4 cup of water until it turns into a paste.
2. Add the food coloring.
3. Place the spiders into the mold or ice cube tray  and add the mixture into the mold, making sure you are covering all the spiders.
4. Freeze them until they are solid.
5. Place on a tray or sensory bin and fill the vinegar into a spray or squeeze bottle to hatch the spiders out of their eggs.
We have placed them on a bed of baking soda to increase the fizz.
